Eligibility
Doctoral education requires general eligibility and, where appropriate, specific eligibility as set out in the general syllabus for the subject.
The general eligibility requirements for doctoral studies are:
having completed a degree at second-cycle level, or
the fulfilment of course requirements totalling at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits must be at second-cycle level, or
the acquisition of equivalent knowledge in some other way, either in Sweden or abroad.
To meet the specific entry requirements for third-cycle studies, applicants must:
have a second-cycle (advanced-level) degree in a relevant* subject area in the natural sciences, or
have completed studies for at least 60 higher education credits at a second-cycle level in relevant subject areas in the natural sciences, or
have completed a corresponding programme of relevance to the planned third-cycle programme, in Sweden or in another country, or have equivalent qualifications.

The specific entry requirements also include an acceptable command of spoken and written English. Guidelines for assessing English proficiency may include a minimum score of 550 on the TOEFL test (or 213 on the TOEFL-CBT, or 79 on the TOEFL-iBT).You need to be motivated and able to work individually and at the same time have a good ability to collaborate with other researchers in an interdisciplinary collaboration.
Assessment criteria
The selection of applicants who meet the basic and specific eligibility requirements will be based on the ability to assimilate the doctoral studies.
In addition to the qualification-based skills, it is an advantage to have experience in ion beam physics, atomic and molecular physics and laser spectroscopy. Particularly valuable is knowledge and experience in experimental studies of negative ions.
It is also a merit to have knowledge in one or more of the following technologies: Laser technology, optics, vacuum technology, ion optics, electronics, programming and data acquisition.
You need to be motivated and able to work individually and at the same time have a good ability to collaborate with other researchers in a large research project.
During the assessment, special emphasis is placed on documented qualifications regarding:
*) Experience of research in the fields of ion beam physics, atomic and molecular physics, laser spectroscopy and especially in the field of experimental studies of negative ions.Your degrees at the bachelor's and master's levels
*) Bachelor's and master's level degrees
*) Your potential, motivation and personal suitability for the position presented through a personal letter and an interview.
The selection process will include an overall assessment of written qualifications, a seminar where the master's thesis is presented, and an interview.
