About the Project
The project:
We invite applications for a PhD project exploring tactile afferent neural signals through cutting-edge data analysis and experimental techniques. Based at the University of Bristol under Dr. Benjamin Ward-Cherrier and in close collaboration with Prof. Rochelle Ackerley at Aix-Marseille University, this PhD project offers an exciting opportunity for interdisciplinary research in computational neuroscience and neural interfacing.
The focus of the PhD is analyzing spiking data from peripheral tactile afferents recorded via intraneural microneurography using Open-Ephys. Key objectives include:
Data Analysis: Unravel neural coding mechanisms from spiking data.
Plugin Development: Create custom Open-Ephys plugins in C++ to advance data acquisition and processing.
Microneurography and Microstimulation Experiments: Perform experiments on spike sorting and analyze average spike responses.
Why Apply?
This project provides access to world-class facilities, expert mentorship, and training in advanced experimental and computational techniques. You'll also gain valuable international research experience between the University of Bristol and Aix-Marseille University.
