PhD直招介绍
About the Project We are recruiting new Doctoral Researchers to our EPSRC funded Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA) PhD studentships starting 1 October 2025. Applications are invited for the project title “Development of Waste-derived Adsorbents for CO2 Capture from Humid Gas”. You will join the internationally recognised researchers in the Department of Chemical Engineering research and PhD programmes | Brunel University London( https://www.brunel.ac.uk/chemical-engineering/research-and-phd-programmes ) The Project Carbon (CO2) emission is the key contributor to climate change. The UK’s ambitious national plans to meet net zero targets, places the country at the forefront of research and engineering for development of viable industrial technologies to cut carbon emissions across various industries. Therefore, removal/capture of CO2 from the air/emission points is vital to meet emission targets inter(nationally). Adsorption-based carbon capture is the 2nd-generation of carbon capture technologies to be significantly developed within this decade. However, there are currently challenges with industrial deployment of the technology, including high cost of adsorbents, competitive adsorption of water from gas mixtures, and poor mechanical stability of adsorbents. This project aims to address the aforementioned challenges via valorisation of suitable waste as the precursor to prepare cost-effective yet efficient adsorbents for CO2 capture from humid gas mixtures. You will join a fully equipped adsorption laboratory within the Department of Chemical Engineering, with immediate access to state-of-the-art research equipment and infrastructure for adsorption research including TGA, TGA-DSC, BET, FTIR, temperature and vacuum pressure swing adsorption columns (TSA & VPSA), tube furnace, steam generator, sonication probe, mechanical strength testing instrument, ball mill & granulator, and etc. You will also have access to a range of analytical equipment at Brunel’s Experimental Technique Centre (ETC) such as SEM/EDS, TEM, XRD and Raman. You will be joining a highly diverse research group comprising PhD students and researchers working on adsorption carbon capture and clean energy generation.
